A letter of intent has been signed for a tenant that’s new to New Canaan, according to NewCanaan.com in this report and Anthony Giordano, an owner of 2 Pine St., longtime home of the New Canaan Post Office prior to Mrs. Green’s.
“I think it’s going to be very well received and we are very excited,” Giordano told NewCanaan.com.
He declined to name the specific business, as the lease agreement hasn’t been finalized, saying a late-summer interior build-out and move-in is realistic.
With that lease, he said, the owners decided to divide the large commercial space into three tenants with roughly 3,000 square feet apiece, a strategy that opens it up to a wider pool of prospective businesses.
Mrs. Green’s closed in October 2016 after about two-and-a-half years and a $100,000 renovation there.
A public auction of equipment from Mrs. Green’s—everything from coffee grinders, display racks and refrigerators to garbage cans, tables, chairs, plates and spoons (see photo gallery here)—is to be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at 2 Pine St.
According to renderings of the renovated building there, the roofline and walls of the long building facing Pine Street will be broken up by new bump-out entrances as well as floor-to-ceiling windows and a walkway that runs nearly the length of the structure.
